One last post tonight. I don't always understand all of Dan's technology posts on his "'Edu Blog"... but I really enjoyed today's post. It made me wish I could sit through one of his classes. It's crazy how much technology use in the classroom has changed since I was in High School. Just an example of how connected Dan is with other educators nationally (I guess I'm bragging a bit)... he jumped in on a presentation through google docs as another educator was presenting to a gathering of Orange County, CA Administrators and Principals in order to give his thoughts on what future wants out of todays students. Pretty cool!

Happy Birthday Audrey!

Just one of the guys...

I wonder what sports Carter will be drawn to when he is older. Yesterday, we went down to the high school track to watch Fred practice. As Fred was coming around the track Carter walked out and joined him in the lane to Fred's right. Fred slowed down so Carter could keep up with him. Watching our little guy walking/running down the track with Fred made me want to laugh and cry all at the same time. I was so bummed I didn't have my camera. Thankfully I had it at Steven's baseball game this afternoon. Just don't tell Steven that Carter is sitting behind the wrong team.

Some favorites from Eden's baptism this morning...

Manna and a friend telling secrets after church... how cute is that!?

Here are some favorites of our time at the Botanical Gardens this morning. It was such a beautiful day.

Well... we just saw Steven off to prom. It was so fun to help him get ready for his big date.

Carter Tricks

Carter Tricks

I try to take a picture of Carter in front of every major place we go. I have pictures of him in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, Atlantic Ocean, Cinderella's Castle at Disney World, and Mt. Shasta. Today while we were in Forest Park (when aren't we in Forest Park) I realized that I have never taken a picture of him in front of the fountains below the Art Museum.

So... here he is:

Yesterday was one of those rare afternoons where it was just the 3 of us. We soaked up the sweet time with our little guy playing outside, eating dinner together at the dining room table and letting him stay up (just a little bit) late. He seems like he has grown up so much in the last couple months.

So... Carter learned something new this morning as we were waving goodbye to Steven. Oh well...

Sometimes I stand Carter on our side table by the front door so he can watch everyone walk down the street to school. Today he waved to Dan until he couldn't see him anymore. That's Steven in the red backpack.

Better than stuffed animals...

I just went in to check on Carter one last time tonight and this is what I found...

He insisted on taking about ten vehicles to bed with him tonight. I think it's so funny that he has the cars evenly spaced and pointing at each other. The boy loves his trucks!
We have been spending about two mornings a week at the zoo. We live so close and are up and ready to go so early each morning that it's become the perfect place to spend a few hours. This morning we got there around 8:30am and found a parking spot right out front. I think I only saw one other family for the first hour we were there.

So... here's the scoop about early morning zoo stuff. If you are at the zoo between 9am and 10am the Children's Petting Zoo, Carousel, and Dinosaur exhibit are all FREE. After Memorial Day the free hours will start at 8am and end at 9am. How cool is that?! Today we got to pet goats and an African Spurred Tortoise.

You know you're from California when...

you are the only family you know of that actually stood in the doorway during this morning's 5.2 earthquake. I'm sure there are other people that stood in their doorways... I just haven't talked to them today. When we felt it early this morning Dan calmly looked at me and said, "earthquake" and then hopped out of bed and walked to the door. He's experienced a few more than I have.
