Wireless from the Couch

Some one came up to me the other day and said that they like seeing the pictures of Carter on Alyssa’s blog. Well I guess I need to publish more often. So here it goes. First off my new job is going well. My School District is very forward thinking and progressive which creates a great atmosphere in which to teach, yet at the same time I've never had so many meetings in my life. Our Middle School is the first public Middle School in Missouri to roll out a critical thinking/inquiry based learning initiative that gives each individual student their own laptop. So we are working out all the kinks that a pilot program typically faces. All the kids get new iBooks and all of the teachers get new macbooks. So as a staff we are trying to move towards a classroom which is non-traditional as it seeks to instruct towards a student’s higher/critical thinking skills. As a result the use of computers in the classroom is secondary to the integration of new teaching/instructional strategies and philosophies.

Enough of that, I sound like a news release. All is going well in St. Louis. Carter is changing and is hilarious in the morning. He’ll wake up and just laugh and giggle in his crib for 20-40 minutes. It’s hard to leave him sometimes, sometimes because he does scream, then again all I have to say is, “Here he is babe, I have go to work.” It is nice, though, living so close to school because Alyssa and Carter can come visit me between meetings and the like.

Alyssa and I just finished watching End of the Spear. I was a little leery of the movie at first being fully aware of the typical production quality of most “Christian” movies (Kirk Cameron fan’s club www.ilovekirkcameroninchristianmovies.com). I was surprised to watch a thoughtful movie that demonstrated and revealed the heart of the gospel without idealizing the gospel and missionaries.

Well I guess this consitutes a post.
