One thing I can not get used to out here is the midwest winters and summers. It was so bitterly cold this weekend. It's hard to think about how the weather has been in Chico lately. It really makes me homesick. Saturday the low was around 4 degrees... 4 DEGREES! I know it's nothing compared to some of the Northern states... but that is still darn cold. We were in a wedding on Saturday which meant I had to leave the house in a skirt... but it was worth it. Finding a skirt that I could fit into is another story... but it worked out and the wedding was a lot of fun.

Anyways... it warmed up to the 30's by Monday... just in time for our heater to stop working that night while Dan was at class. When he called me on his way home I explained that the pilot light was still on, but no air was coming out of the vents. He explained to me nicely when he got home that I was looking at the water heater and not the furnace. It turned out that our ignition switch on the furnace had cracked. Dan figured out what was wrong without having to call a repairman... which would have cost $400.00. He was able to track down the $40.00 replacement part on Tuesday!!

I had to post a picture of him fixing it since he did such an awesome job. Thanks Dan!!!

One of the great things about living in St. Louis is that you are pretty much guaranteed to have a basement no matter where you live. We had our own basement in the apartment we lived in for two years before moving into our house. The basement here is not finished, but it's still great to have double the space. In our case... it's really nice since we only have a two bedroom house. So... we made the big move this weekend in order to get ready for the baby... we moved Dan's office down into the basement. I feel so bad for him to have to move from a room that was basically all windows to a room that is no windows... but the nice thing is he finally has room for all of his books. We spent a good part of Saturday at Lowe's purchasing wood for his new bookshelves. He had them done by the end of the night. I had to apologize for mentioning several times that it would have been easier if we would have just bought them pre-made. I took a couple pictures to show the beginning stages of the office. We still have a bit of organizing to do.

On a completely different note... I had to post this picture of our cat George. We came home from work today and he was sitting in a pot on our next door neighbor's porch.

Our neighbor kindly feeds our cats daily... so they like to spend time at her house. It's kind of a long story that I probably shouldn't get into.

Today we did the one thing we have been dreading since moving to Missouri... changing our CA license plates :(.

It was so sad that I had to take a picture. We have put off changing them for three years since we didn't know how long we would be out here. Now we know it will still be a while.

The good thing was... it only cost $35.00 to register the car for two years. It's so much cheaper out here than California!
