We've realized lately, as more of Carter's personality is coming out, that he has inherited the clean gene (I'm guessing it's a typical first child thing). He is VERY particular about things being clean. The other day we were on a walk and he had his tricycle. We had to stop every few feet to either clean his shoes or wipe off the tires on the bike. I finally just brought him home because I couldn't handle it anymore. He's so funny.

Anyway... today we tapped his cleaning abilities and had a little car wash.

He paid an amazing amount of attention to detail and had his little car cleaned up in no time!

Spinning and Swinging

New Eyes for my Model Husband

He's going to be mad at me for saying that... but it's true. I'm not the only one who has said he would make a good model.

The poor guy has not had glasses since we were in Seminary. He lost his last pair in the back of his chipper truck... that should tell you how long it's really been.

I think this is one of his teacher faces...

and this one... he looks so stern... like he's saying... Get back to your desk!

Talking to the Carter-man... we were afraid Carter might not recognize him... but he just laughed when he saw Dan.

Skinny pants... the pictures are blurry but I think you can get the idea. I LOVE dressing Carter! I usually have to search pretty hard to find cute boy clothes... that's why I couldn't pass on the skinny pants at a consignment shop a few days ago. Dan's not so happy about them.

Doesn't he look like a little rocker!?

Welcome to our parking gara... I mean dining room.

It's Spirit Week again at the High School. Last night at dinner we were discussing today's theme, Disney characters. Princesses came up as a joke... and... well... the pictures speak for themselves. Let's just say I'm going to be cleaning glitter off our floor for a very long time. I'm going to be impressed if anyone can guess which characters they are. Our 4th boy wasn't here last night and Fred chose not to participate... I wonder why!?

Jeff and Steven checking their make-up.

Their goal was to make it into the yearbook. I think it's safe to say that their mission was accomplished.

A word to the wise... teenage boys should be given specific instructions when going to the Wal-Mart fabric counter by themselves. Sometimes they don't know that someone employed by the store is supposed to cut the fabric.
Here is Carter chatting with Papa last night. It's so great to have room to keep his bikes inside. A couple days ago he pedaled through the living room for the first time. It's so fun to watch him figure new stuff out... and see how proud he is of himself. It's really fun to watch him in the morning when the guys are groggily trying to find their way through the kitchen and avoid Carter riding in circles around the island at the same time. I should take some video of that!

We broke down...

We were out tonight and found a very cheap and tiny skateboard at Target. Carter insisted on taking it to bed tonight... and must love it so much that he even gave up his pillow for his new wheels. He's actually pretty good on it. Carter was showing off for Fred tonight and made it halfway down our entryway pushing it with one foot on the board. Now we just need to get him some knee and elbow pads.

A California morning...

This morning we met a family from church and a friend that works in the school district with Dan at a skate park about 40 minutes outside of St. Louis. It was awesome! Carter brought his scooter (of course) and tried just to be just like the big guys. All three men used to be surfers in So Cal... one professionally. They were a lot of fun to watch. We're probably going to get Carter a mini board in the next few days.

I was pretty impressed with Dan's skating skills... although I think it may take him a week to recover from a few of his falls.

Carter also enjoyed a little bit of the local wildlife.

I've been feeling a lot like this guy lately...

Maybe that's part of the reason I haven't felt like posting much.

That and a man that was very dear to me passed away 2 weeks ago. My Grandpa Floyd meant the world to me and I miss him so much.

Here he is just over a year ago at the Merry-Go-Round in the Berkley Hills in CA. This was one of my (and my sisters) favorite places to go with him.

So... it was fitting that we met some friends at the Merry-Go-Round in St. Louis yesterday. Carter and I got there a little early and were the only ones on the ride. I didn't realize how emotional it would make me feel.

Yesterday, I met a couple of friends for lunch at our local park. I love this weather. It was perfect... except for the fact that Carter would not sit still. I guess he was just in a wandering mood. At one point I was trying to coax him back over to the picnic blanket where we were eating when a woman at the swings said hi and asked if I was Mr. Reeve's wife. I said yes and she mentioned that her oldest son, who is now in High School, had Dan as a teacher last year and LOVED him. Sometimes I do feel like I live just a tiny bit in Dan's shadow... which is totally fine with me. He just has one of those personalities that connects really well with a lot of different people. So... the woman knew about Joe's Place and said she thought it was amazing what we were doing. It always gives me such a huge boost when people stop and tell us that.

Anyway... her son plays a sport with a couple of our guys and has classes with them. The thing I really don't think about with our guys... is how much they talk about life at Joe's to kids at school. I mean... it makes sense... I just assume that they don't really talk about it. So... the woman tells me that her son got in trouble a couple days ago and ended up having to do some chores because of it. He was upset and told his mom that she should talk to the Reeves at Joe's Place because they have that house so organized. I could not stop laughing. I do have to admit that it made me feel pretty good. It just really makes me wonder what our guys say...

Here they are at dinner the other night...
