Ok... how awesome is our fire department!? We were down at the school watching the buses park this afternoon when we saw a fire truck come around the corner. Carter stopped and watched in awe as it got closer. They saw Carter when they were about a block away and turned their lights on! I couldn't believe it. Then they pulled over and all three firemen got out and gave Carter a hat (it even says Maplewood on it).

They offered to give him a tour and let him sit in it after that... but he preferred to enjoy the sight from a distance. They turned on the lights for him again as he stood on the corner waving to them for about 5 minutes. Thankfully we were close enough to home that I was able to run home and grab our camera.

Earlier today we spent time at one of our State Parks on a field trip with Dan's 8th graders. We got to hike to a glade that the middle school has been working on to restore for the past two years. It was fun to hear the guide on our hike talk about how their work is making an impact for the wildlife in the area.
